We portal classes created by Dearborn/Kaplan. You can expect to receive a certificate of completion emailed to the South Dakota Real Estate Commission, and you, within 3 business days of finishing the course with an 80%. (During November/December, it should be within three calendar days. 


We do this to help make your renewal process easier.


The classes which have been approved by the South Dakota Real Estate Commission as CE and/or Post License education follow. ONLY the REQUIRED 'R' hours count towards Post License education. If the course has both ELECTIVE 'E' hours and REQUIRED hours, the entire course must be completed but the Post License student will only receive renewal credit for the number of required hours.


Post License periods apply to the first two renewal cycles after obtaining your license and those agents need 30 required hours. Left over hours do not roll over into the next renewal cycle.


If you have all ready renewed your license twice, you need Continuing Education (CE). You need 24 total hours with at least twelve of them being required. The other twelve can be required or elective.

We are pleased to work with the Career Learning Center and offer community education classes.


We offer three classes.
Two in the Professional Development section:

1. Thinking About a Career in Real Estate?

This course is a great opportunity to explore a career move without the commitment! We will discuss the business of real estate, what's involved in creating a successful career, the licensing process, skill sets needed for creating a business and touch on different successful business models. Information will be provided on searching for different schooling options. Included in the class is a complete overview of the process from deciding to buy or sell real estate through closing the transaction, where real estate information can be obtained and questions which may need to be discussed with an attorney or an accountant.

2. Introduction to Property Management

Has a career in property management always interested you? Or maybe you have an apartment or house to rent out? This class provides an overview to the business side of property management and is for students wondering about becoming a property manager or those wanting to manage their own properties. Class covers state laws that need to be followed, federal laws such as fair housing and lead-base paint disclosures, trust accounts, who needs a license, and much more. Come find out if this interesting and unique field is for you.

Thinking about selling your house? This class is a safe place to start. You will learn what is involved in selling your home with or without an agent, why the Disclosures may be the most important document in the whole process, how to price your home to sell, is it a buyers or sellers market, strategies for keeping the most money at closing, winning in the four negotiating periods of the sell and when to use an agent.
